macintosh LC-series
The mac LC was named for its low cost. It was aimed at the home market, and included a 16 MHz 68020 processor. It shipped inside a newly designed small case and was one of the first macs to come bundled with a microphone. It also came with a new pds slot, that became a standard in the LC family.
The LC II was essentially an upgrade of the original LC. Unfortunately, while Apple "speed-bumped" the processor to a 16 MHz 68030, they kept the 16-bit data path, making the speed improvement minimal (the 68030 was a 32-bit processor). The macintosh LC III was significantly faster, showing 2x performance in all major categories - CPU, disk, video and maths.
The most affordable macintosh LC ever, the LC 475 was released in october 1993. It had a 25 MHz 68LC040 processor, and came in a small newly designed case.
